It's Time To Save Toby

Unplanned No. 1 brought a website to my attention the other day that had me laughing so hard I cried. Many of you are aware of the plight of Toby the rabbit. This adorable little bunny will be eaten unless his owner sells 100,000 copies of his book.

I'm going to do my part and purchase a book and several other Toby related items. Why am I supporting this blackmail scheme? Because these guys are marketing geniuses. They have ticked off animal rights activists and had a negative piece by MSNBC done on them. And all of you know that this housewife is all about ticking off animal rights activitists and the MSM.

Don't get me wrong, I love animals and I'm not one who delights in their suffering. But at a point in time when animals are often considered equal to humans; well, I'd say there's a problem with that. If Toby gets eaten, he gets eaten. He wouldn't be the first rabbit killed to feed a person.

The best part of this website is the recipe section. YOU HAVE TO GO LOOK AT THEM! My faves: Moraccan Hare Tagine, Toby Con Fit and Toby Stew.

If you hunt around the site you'll find the piece by MSNBC, hate mail and several other items of interest. SaveToby.com is without doubt, a shining star on the web.

Toby is still alive?? Didn't this same thing happen last year? Come to think of it...this doesn't exactly look like the same Toby.I'm off to investigate and possibly come up with a scheme of my own to get some cash.

Yea, they've been through this at least one time before; he was suppose to be dead already. It is most definitely about the money; but I love it. Killing rabbits is horrible but aborting babies is acceptable. Go figure.

It's a wonderful website, all the more 'cuz it pisses people off.

Sorry, I think the guys running this site have jumpted the shark, and the appropriate response is to shrug and move on elsewhere.

Thye initially had a clever idea with their June 30th deadline. They got publicity and interesting reactions from various groups and people. (I must say that some of their "hate mail" does look fictitious to me).

But then they changed the date to Nov 6th, changed the demand to 100,000 books, but they didn't bother to rewrite anything else (they even kept in their line about a midsummer feast, which made sense regarding 6/30 but not for Nov). They haven't updated anything for a long time either.

The whole things has gotten stale from neglect. Their 15 minutes of fame is over. Yawn.

Rabbit and dumplings.

Tastes like...chicken and dumplings.

This is why I love you CT; you always say what you think no matter the opinion of myself and others. Your pseudonym couldn't be more appropriate. :)

Jeff, rabbit doesn't taste anything like chicken. It's much better. They’re easy to clean too. I prefer rotisserie.

Civil Truth, you are correctamundo! "Jumped the shark." that is appropriate. They should have put an end to this before it got old.

BWH: turn your sarcas-o-meter on, man...

I love rabbit, but it's been probably 20 years since I had any.
