Whatever

Well, today is my 20th wedding anniversary; BFD!! Why do I have to hate my husband on special days? Nothing horrible, just one of those times when you really wish you were single. Don't get me wrong, he's a great guy; and these times happen in a marriage. It's quite normal to hate your spouse from time to time, I wish more people knew that.

Probably one of the best descriptions of how to handle difficulties in marriage came from a woman whose name I can't remember, dehhhh. She said marriage is like two animals in a pen. You both know that you always have to stay within that pen, but sometimes you both need to go to your corners to cool down. I need a cooler full of ice dumped on me right now.

Just don't rely on FEMA to get that ice to you.

BWH-never mention the word screw when a woman is mad at her husband.

MCubed-MWAH!!! So nice to see you. I am cooler, but that's cuz the AC came on ;)

Hmmmmmm - do you need a good marriage counselor? I happen to know a good one! ;-)

I would like to say congratulations on sticking it out for 20 years - through the loving and the hating. . .

Whenever I get mad at my husband, I try to remember to ask myself: "Would you want to make this "issue" the one to break the camel's back? Is this so important to you that you would risk having your husband walk out the door?"

OK, those are usually extreme questions for what are usually very minor spats...but I ask myself them because it is the minor spats that add up over time.

My husband explained to me about his first marriage in this way: "She never put any water in the well. Even though I kept putting water in, she just keep filling her pail. One day I went to the well and I just found it dry."

I think that was the most profound thing my husband has ever said to me and I try to remember it. He's just too important to me to lose...good men really are hard to find. I think I want to keep this one!
