I'd Like To Apologize

Yes, the housewife owes New Orleans mayor Ray Nagin a huge apology. You see I've called him several names since Katrina, none of them nice. I've blamed him for not encouraging his citizens to be more responsible for themselves, to not have a plan should a storm hit a city lying next to the ocean that just happens to be under sea level; yes, Mr. Nagin, I'm sorry. Apparently you're not the one with the issues, it's your constituency. They obviously are inept, sheltered and ignorant. I mean, actually re-electing you? Perhaps we really should funnel more money into the New Orleans schools and teach the students some common sense. Oh and here's a little gift to get you started rebuilding your community.

Hi Stacy,

Thanks for your comment. It is incredible that the voters of NO picked this pathetic piece of prejudice to lead them once again. Now, they get what they deserve.

It looks like all the smart people decided to settle somewhere else besides NO.

I have a cousin who lived in Baton Rouge for many years. Apparently the locals (including those in NOLA) have a saying that they often use:
"It's not the heat, it's the stupidity."

We now have "proof in the chocolate pudding".

Stacy, Nagin's re-election is so breathtakingly stupid that I cannot even muster a comment for my blog. I thought I had heard, prior to the election, that the post-Katrina NO had a greater percentage of whites than blacks, which might have been expected to make a difference. But as you say, they're apparently stuck on stupid.

Martin Luther King would be proud: The very Webster definition of a failed mayor is re-elected because of the color of his skin.

We had the same thing in Minneapolis last year. A black female was hired as superintendent of schools despite the fact that her opponents were infinitely more qualified.

The result? A year later her contract was bought out for a couple hundred grand because she was incompetent.

This has nothing to do with race, it has to do with common sense and intelligence. If a white man, or black woman, or Asian hermaphrodyte is the best person for the job, bring 'em in with trumpet fanfare. If they have have a demonstrated track record of ineptitude, ride them out of town on a rail.

If an entire city is happy to pull the lever for a person whose major accomplishment is fiddling while New Orleans drowned, then to paraphrase Herbert Hoover: A chicken in every pot, SCUBA gear for every resident.

Dang it. I thought you quit. You're throwing me off here. Sorry for not visiting.

This doesn't surprise me at all. I've been watching these idiots in Memphis elect this idiot mayor time after time after time after time. It's amazingly ignorant.

Yup - amazingly ignorant.
