Well, Katrina crashed our party, no Cotillion this week. We are all worried about Beth's home, she lives in the Mobile area and high-tailed it out of there Sunday morning. She's safe and sound in Birmingham, but who knows what there is to return to.
The little my mother has heard from the kin folk isn't good. Many of my relatives chose to stay believing that Katrina was going to New Orleans instead. I completely expect to turn on the news and see an aunt or uncle of mine being rescued.
Check back in with me later.
UPDATE: Em decided that she just couldn't live without Cotillion, so while sitting at the airport threw one together right quick. Make sure you go by and check it out.
ANOTHER UPDATE: Just spoke with my mother, my aunt in Pascagoula lost her house and everything's gone, even the car sitting in the driveway. I'm awaiting just as equally bad news from many more family members. Another aunt of mine living in Jackson (150 miles) away from the shore, lost the backside of her house. Geewhiz.

Posted by: Mister Nice Guy at August 30, 2005 04:09 PMI'm sorry to hear about that, I'm sure there are priceless memories floating in those houses. But I'm glad their health is ok. I hope the other relatives are safe as well.
Posted by: Darlene at August 30, 2005 05:41 PMOh my goodness. I am so sorry. I am just glad there was no loss of life for you.
Posted by: Housewife at August 30, 2005 06:05 PMMy thoughts (and prayers) are with you and yours ... and the thousands of others who've been affected by this tragedy.

Posted by: Jeff H at August 30, 2005 10:09 PMNot yet, my mom's at work and her answering machine is full. I wish I knew her code. She is the one who gives us all the info. I do have one aunt in particular that I'm very worried about. She had a huge house next to the bayou in Ocean Springs and last everyone heard she chose to stay there. We're all hoping she got out of there in time. They all expected for the storm to go west of them, but then it turned at the last moment as everyone knows.
Posted by: Stacy at August 30, 2005 10:19 PMIt is different staying in your house when you think the hurricane is going somewhere else. It is hard to predict these animals, the weather people try their best though.
God, I do hope you hear from her SOON! PLEASE tell us something as soon as you find out.
Posted by: Housewife at August 31, 2005 01:05 AMI hope you don't hear news of the loss of life.
