For those who are unaware

For those who are unaware of exactly who Denny Neagle is, he WAS a pitcher for the Colorado Rockies. He wasn't on the mound much, the Rockies have this nasty habit of contracting only injured pitchers. But Mr. Neagle had a knack for making it into the news. It was never about his ability to salvage a game, it was for his indiscretions. Denny started here in Denver with a DUI, and then moved on to solicitation. He was pulled over by a police officer one evening with his pants open. The woman in the car with him admitted that she was a prostitute and had just performed an oral sexual act on him for $40. (I could never make a living as a prostitute, one would have to perform far too many fellatio's to make a good days wage. And.... Why would you pick up a hooker when you can find plenty of wanton women at a classy night club?) Infidelity is far too common with pro-athletes. Yes, yes I know that it is not only with athletes, but the atmosphere they're engaged in promotes that mind set. When one is raised to the level of deity by the populace, they begin to believe it themselves. Additionally, when your sign a contract making more money than the Gross National Product of a small African country, you tend to become cerebrally enlarged. Why is America so fascinated by professional sports? I can view and enjoy these sports, but there is always a bit of animosity that I hold against the players. So many are guilty of things that I don't agree with and that is probably why I enjoy the Olympics so much. They could possibly be as morally bankrupt as the pros, but there is a humbleness that exists in Olympic athletes. The only pro-sport that I can truly say I enjoy is boxing. You repeatedly hear impressive stories of how boxing saved a young boy from the streets. (My favorite boxer would definitely be Oscar de la Hoya, but I don't believe it's his boxing ability I'm impressed with, I just have a thing for short Latino guys. "Viva la hombres Hispano!!") The NFL, MLB, NBA and NHL are full of less than desirable individuals. I know that the majority are good, honest men; but have we crossed a line letting the criminally-prone ones not serve their deserved time in incarceration and continue to make millions of dollars in the process? (I am not one that believed Kobe Bryant was guilty, another post for another day.) In our small town there is a new baseball field going in donated by the Colorado Rockies, it was going to be called Denny Neagle Field. Mr. Neagle and his BEAUTIFUL wife were present a few months ago at the ground breaking ceremony. Since the BJ thing, the field name has changed and Denny Neagle was released from his contract. Had he stayed at home that evening and let his wife pleasure him, that $40 mistake wouldn't have cost him a multi-million dollar contract and intense distress to his family. Stupid.
