I know it's April 1st
I know it's April 1st and all, but like I said, this is not funny.
First I hear that Pope John Paul II has died, I tear up, I cry. Half an hour later I hear, no he's not dead. This is cruel, media reporting untruths. I know that if he is still indeed alive that it will not be for long.
I hope not to be jumping the gun myself, but to all of my Catholic friends, I send my condolences. My thoughts and prayers are with you. As a fellow Christian I understand who this man was in your lives.
I remember when he became Pope. The Pope prior to him served a short time in that role, and I remember asking my mother why he died so quickly after being named. Her reply was, "well, I guess God decided that he wasn't the right man for the job". She was right. Pope John Paul II has been someone I have admired and revered for many years. The thing that I have always loved about this man was how he stood up to the Progressive movements during his service and repeatedly answered "no". A true man of the cloth and more.
About 11 or 12 years ago, World Youth Day was here in Denver. I remember watching the festivities and wishing that I was a teenager and a Catholic. It was an exciting experience to watch. Our little town overflowed with teens from around the world staying at the large Catholic church and they were all so happy.
Please enjoy your loved ones and your weekend.
