Weird

Sorry about being gone, I still have a few days before I'm back in full force. Darn job, every now and then I actually have too much to do.

Anyway, the other night I had a dream that I was a nominee for SCOTUS. I was taken into a back room full of books that were gigantic. I was told to sit down and read everything before it was time to present me to the nation. I remember in this dream I sat there thinking "you guys are insane".

I have recently changed my opinion on Miers, not because of the dream though. When she was first nominated she was supported by Jay Sekulow, a man I greatly admire. But the recent coverage regarding her 'diversity quota' has left me siding with the majority of the GOP. I was shocked to see so many politicians and pundits voicing a negative opinion of her. I just can't see her being confirmed at this point. But . . . . . this new thinking of mine has revived by 'finger-crossing' for Janice Rogers Brown.

Pardon the crappy post.

There are days I wish Bush would nominate previously rejected Robert Bork--just to piss all the fatty ass libs off on the Judiciary Committee...

If she doesn't want to run for President, George should drop Miers and put Condi up as his next SCOTUS nominee -- she'd whip those boys into line in no time (and Ginsburg too)!

Stacy, it's totally fine; we all face those rough patches at times -- just keep your skates facing forward.

Last night, Hugh Hewitt made the point on his show that if Miers is rejected by the Republicans for matters of her position on issues, then they will have opened the floodgates -- the judiciary will be damaged, and we'll never be able to get the Dems back to any reasonable position.

All things considered, I like Krauthammer's take on it at: http://www.townhall.com/opinion/columns/charleskrauthammer/2005/10/21/172176.html

At this point, it seems the best we might hope for...

Hope you're getting a little mental and physical rest. You deserve it.

I'm so sick of hearing about the Supreme Court nomination. At this point, they could nominate Scooby Doo for all I care about it. I'm burned out. I know that's an irresponsible position, and I really do care, but I'm so tired of listening to all the bloviating.

Hey everyone!! Muley, yep. When I'm dreaming about SCOTUS; there's a problem.

If Miers is not confirmed, Bush may get angry enough to appoint JRB. But, remember there is at least one more nomination to go after this. An ubercon could still be in the hand.

Stevens ain't dead yet, BWH.

Posted by: Jeff H at October 26, 2005 08:43 PM

I'm with bigwhitehat, I'm pretty sure JP Stevens is going to croak or retire in the next 18 months, and GWB gets one more shot. I really think Miers was his gift to the left (she's on Harry Reids list of acceptable candidates). So that when Stevens goes he can appoint Rogers-Brown, or a similarly conservative person.

Justice Brown would be great on the bench.Meirs is a moron. And as I've said before, I can't stomach any politican when they say "trust me". What has President Bush done to earn my trust and the trust of us Reagan/Goldwarter
Conservatives??( in any case there seems to be alot less of us these days)...Not a friggin thing.

So I do hope this woman goes down in flames. I like Jeff's idea. Bring back B0RK

RR

Now, I do like the idea of nominating Bork. Besides being an excellent justice, his nomination alone would drive the left into an absolute frenzy. It would be like putting a beehive down their pants. Great fun to watch.

Well, she's down in flames. Two names getting play are Edith Clement Brown, and Diane Sykes.

Both have bench experience, both are good conservatives. However, they are both members of the federalist society, which was fine b.R. (before Roberts). Now that the federalists have been labeled as right wing whacko's by the media it could hurt both women.
