Yes, Another Racism Post

Thanks to Maggie again, she brought an article to my attention written by Reverend Jesse Lee Peterson, a black minister, who states what many of us have been witnessing. He is the founder of an organization attempting to address and resolve many of the issues existing in the black community. Rev. Peterson understands the poison being fed to 'his' people by the current black leadership. It's a good read.

My contribution: when I was searching for that grotesque item below; I ran across this. Had the races been reversed the cries of bigotry would have been heard throughout the universe. It's acceptable to insult MY RACE, but not any others. Do I take great offense to this? No, I don't. But is it because I've been conditioned to accept this form of discrimination? Maybe.

Here's the stats regarding incarceration; and here's some stats about abortion. I wanted to bring these two items to your attention because they play into what I posted on last week. The massive failure of leadership in the black community has affected the traditional family unit. I want nothing more than healing for the black populace, but the first step in solving an problem, is to admit that it exists.

The abortion statistic is quite staggering.

I find it incomprehensible sometimes that life is so abundant on our planet that we take it completely for granted. Ours is the only planet in the known universe remotely capable of harboring life, but rather than cherish it we snuff it out at every opportunity.

It's just sad.

Stacy:

Great minds (and incredibly good-looking people) must think alike. I posted something on this very same essay by Rev. Peterson minutes before popping on over here to see this on your site.

Good work, as always...

I didn't have to read Rev. Peterson's essay to feel this way but he reminds me of our problems.

Allowing this spirit of dependence is the epitome of, “the quiet racism of low expectations.” The thing that bothers me about this is the lack of self reliance. How long will we enable this dependence? How long will we lower the bar in public schools? How long will we go to extremes to allow Hispanic immigrants to not learn the language? We are not doing anybody any favors. We are not helping these people.

I want all Americans to be self reliant. The status quo just sucks.

Nicely stated BWH. The husband and I have big expectations out of our children because we want them to succeed. Making excuses or ignoring things teaches no one anything.
