A Bit Of Good News

Just heard that the Teamsters have left the AFL-CIO, THANK GOD!!! Know why? For political reasons, duh. They were tired of their union dues going to ideologies and politicians that they do not agree with. There were also two other union, food service workers and one I can't remember. I was too busy giggling with excitement about the Teamsters. Nice job guys, nice job.

Hopefully the teachers unions will learn something from this. The overwhelming majority of the teachers my children have had were conservative. No, not the parochial teachers, public school teachers. woo. hoo.

It amazes me. Educated people (teachers) can't figure out how to organize outside of the NEA. I come from a family of educators. All of my life teachers have complained about the NEA but they never do anything about it. Form your own group and leave them in obsolescence.

Not sure I would read from the Teamster move away from the AFL-CIO suggests any sort of return to the center of the political spectrum. I suspect it has more to do with the fact they will be able to have more visibility with the PAC's and other special interests they support if they don't have to share with the AFL-CIO.

From what I've read recently regarding this, it was in fact because of political alignments the AFL-CIO held that did not reflect its membership. Union officials allocate dues to associations, etc., that their members do not agree with. I have always hoped that this would be changed and perhaps with the Teamsters leaving it will.
