Arizona and New Mexico Asking For Help

I know I'm suppose to be focusing on Cotillion, but wow, I've got to get this off my chest.

I'm not going to post any links, if you're reading this blog you probably already know that the DEMOCRATIC governors from both Arizona and New Mexico have declared a state of emergency to deal with their illegal immigration problem.

Here's a cookie to chew on: Both of these governors have had some participation in allowing illegals drivers licenses. They both have approved of legislation that shows compassion and tolerance to the presence of these aliens. Is it possible that perhaps this is all just a scheme to grab the nation's attention? People on the left and the right understand the seriousness of this situation, but what has the Bush administration done to end illegal immigration? Nothing. This is the Golden Ticket for the Democratic party and they have decided to run with it, real fast and real hard. I'm sorry but the Republican in me sees this as nothing more than a media stunt. The pasts of both of these governors speaks volumes of the opposite.

I fully expect Hil-liar-y to stop by there soon. Richardson is, after all, a potential rival in '08.

My sentiments exactly. . .

Thanks, Stacy, you know I live this daily. If these two democrat governor buffoons were serious they would call out the National Guard to protect us. The fact that they do not is a testimony to the fact that they are aware of the problem but don't give a damn.

If, big IF, the governors have had a change of heart, (i.e. polling is telling them that voters have had enough), and are sincere about their new-found stance against illegals, then they are turning the weak flank of the GOP and the current administration.

I've lived in Texas and Arizona, and have visited New Mexico and Southern California many times. It's way past time to stop illegals, but neither party has shown the guts to do it. Everyone is afraid of alienating the Hispanic vote, even though polls show that about half of the Hispanics in this country want illegal immigration halted.

This is a national security issue and everyone knows it -- especially after 9/11. The Dems have generally demonstrated weakness when it comes to national security. Taking a strong stance on illegal immigration will no doubt help the Dems, but are they really serious about it?

If they are, look out GOP. This issue resonates throughout the country, not just the border states.

It's too bad I closed shop, I could have linked you to my many articles where I've written Conservative Senators and they ALL support illegal immigration while my Democratic Senators all shared my sentiments AGAINST Illegal Immigration. So, what Gov. Richardson from New Mexico, and Gov. Napolitano from Arizona have done, shouldn't come as a shock to anyone who still keeps tabs on the war on illegal immigration....

Food for thought.

I concur. And the sad part is that the Republicans seem to be doing everything they can to make it an effective media stunt.

Wolfie-how are you? Despite any political leanings I have, I'm mad as hell!!! Neither party gives a damn because of their own motives. But like I said, this is it, which ever party runs with this has an EXCELLENT chance at the White House.

The porous state of our borders is a treasonous act by both Republicans and Democrats. On 9/11 U.S. troops should have amassed on our borders and began guarding every square inch 24/7. This is the greatest danger to our nation, and it is summarily ignored by all parties except, as you wisely stated, for political reasons.

As long as Americans aren't willing to do work that is "beneath" them, the illegal problem will persist. As long as it remains more prideful for an American to collect a welfare check rather than clean a Walmart restroom during the night shift, the illegal problem will remain. Until Americans are willing to begin paying what things are worth, the illegal problem will remain.

Tom, as always, you're effing brilliant.

The Dems have finally found a good election strategy. If they keep this up, 2008 should be a piece of cake for them.

I currently live in AZ and our Governor is a JOKE when it comes to anything to do with border security or illegal immigration. I'm not saying the Pres is any better but for Napolitano to say she's against it has everyone here laughing. This is the same Governor who supports giving illegals drivers licenses which we use as ID for voting.
