Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Phoenix

Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Phoenix has a traditional view of how prisoners should be treated. He believes them to be actual criminals and that they should be treated as such. Recently he had to move 700 prisoners to a new facility. In order to curtail anyone from escaping, they were shackled, but also placed in pink boxers and pink flip-flops. I believe that this was probably the most commonsensical and probably financially feasible way to ensure that no man would escape.

FreeRepublic has a great write-up on it and the DailyKos is of course upset. But really, what is so horrible about these CONVICTED FELONS having to do this? Do you think that they showed any concern for the mental and physical well-being of their victims? Prisoners are just that, prisoners. They do not deserve to be treated as if they did nothing wrong and prison is not suppose to be a posh, comfortable environment.

The next time any liberal wants to argue over prisoners rights they need to first go speak with a family member of that prisoners victim. My family lost someone because of the illegal act of another, I wish nothing good for the guy that killed my nephew. Anyway, there's my two cents.
